Markham Cycling Day made an exciting return this past Sunday. This year, we celebrated in a brand-new location on the vibrant and historic Markham Main Street. With sunny skies, smiling faces, and the joyful sound of bike bells, the event brought together community members of all ages for a day full of cycling fun and community connection.
One of the highlights of the day was the always-popular Children’s Bike Races. Kids between the ages of three and five took to a safely closed-off section of Main Street to race their hearts out. Whether they earned a gold, silver, or bronze medal or a cheerful ribbon; every young participant left feeling like a champion.
The Tour de Markham rides gave cyclists a chance to explore the city in a new and exciting way, with route options of 5, 8, 15, 30, and 60 kilometers. The newly introduced 5km and 8km routes were especially popular with families, offering a relaxed and welcoming experience for newer riders and children. From scenic paths to local landmarks, every route was a chance to discover something new on two wheels.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. Riders, volunteers, families, and our sponsors. Your energy and enthusiasm made the day truly unforgettable. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
