The City of Markham and its partners are closing and/or restricting traffic on two street segments this year – creating cycling, pedestrian friendly routes designed to help keep people active in exploring different parts of Markham.
Main St. Unionville from Carlton Rd. to Fred Varley Dr. will have traffic calming measures and increased space for cyclists and pedestrians.
Middlefield Rd. from Highglen Ave. to Denison St. will have weekly road closures for an exclusive cycling and pedestrian friendly space.
Markham Cycles will be holding a pop-up community booth at Middlefield Rd. and Highglen Ave. every road closure. Stop by for simple bike repairs and quick fixes on-site! Repairs available include adjusting brakes, oiling chain, adjusting seat height, pumping up tires, and a safety check.
Also, there will be short-term bike rentals available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to bring your own helmet, sanitized helmets will be provided if needed.
