Starting in 2024, The Centre for Immigrant and Community Services (CICS) will be taking over operation of Markham Cycles.
CICS stands as a vital nonprofit organization dedicated to providing an array of essential services to newcomers and the broader community. Our multifaceted offerings encompass recreational services, settlement services, volunteering programs and community food programs, among others, contributing to the well-being of individuals across the Greater Toronto Area. With strategic locations in both York Region and Toronto, CICS extends its reach to serve diverse populations, reflecting the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
A cornerstone of our outreach efforts is the Immigrant Youth Centre, a dedicated space designed to cater specifically to the needs of youth in Markham. With over 15 years of impactful existence, this standalone location has been a hub for youth programming and services. As we recognize the importance of fostering community health, CICS has taken on the responsibility of managing the Markham Cycles project. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to the community, ensuring the continuity of Markham Cycles’s mission and its positive contributions to the local community in Markham.
In alignment with our overarching mission, CICS is actively engaged in planning and executing workshops for parents, further expanding our commitment to community empowerment. As we look ahead, we are also identifying training opportunities that will not only benefit our team but also enhance collaboration with other agencies, strengthening our collective ability to support the community effectively.
